The history of...
The Parker Metal Building is a newly renovated, 50,000 square foot historic manufacturing building located on the western edge of Federal Hill, close to M&T Bank Stadium. The building pairs attractive original features including heavy timber beams, exposed brick interiors and expansive windows with significant new architectural elements along with state-of–the-art mechanical, electrical and lighting systems. Originally built c.1900 for the Parker Metal Decorating Company - this was during the time Baltimore became one of the centers for the preservation of food, especially in the form of canned goods. Large-scale canning operations began to take off, utilizing modern techniques and machinery that made preserving food much more efficient. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
